Katherine Barner is a grief and trauma expert, licensed psychotherapist, author, speaker and Bible teacher. Through robust theological teachings delivered in her down to earth style she helps women discover hope, healing, and transformation.

Katherine Barner is a Grief & Trauma Expert, Bible Teacher, and Licensed Psychotherapist, dedicated to empowering individuals with the mental, emotional, and spiritual tools needed to lead fulfilling lives. Her passion is sharing the teachings of Jesus to guide and support those she works with leading them to hope, healing, and transformation. 

Katherine serves Grace Center for Spiritual Development (an extension of Grace School of Theology) as Director of HeartCare Team Ministry and Board Member of the Center's Women's Institute. 

With nearly three decades of experience in the mental health field, Katherine has served various communities, including local and state law enforcement agencies, domestic and sexual violence crisis centers, individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders, those with severe and persistent mental illness, and the homeless population. Her wealth of professional experience, combined with her personal journey, has granted her a unique perspective on human suffering and the unwavering faithfulness of God.

Katherine is author of the award winning book "God Help Me, I’m Grieving: Finding Healing After Loss." She has contributed to Today’s Purpose Woman magazine and previously hosted her own weekly radio broadcast, "The Pearls of Wisdom Show with Katherine Barner," along with the podcast, "Sister Survivors." Through these platforms, she has engaged in enlightening conversations with esteemed guests like CeCe Winans, Karen Abercrombie, Susie Larson, Wendy Blight, and many others.

She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Spelman College and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas and is a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies student at Grace School of Theology. She holds certifications as an ICISF crisis responder, Clinical Trauma Specialist, and trained EMDR practitioner.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Katherine treasures the roles of wife, mother, mother-in-love, and most joyfully, granny.
