More About Rachel Schmoyer

In partnership with her writing ministry, Read the Hard Parts, Rachel speaks from God’s word finding simple truth in the complex parts of Scripture. She is passionate about inviting women to dig into Scripture beyond the usual, go-to verses. There is so much in all of Scripture for us to see God and see how we are to respond to Him!

Rachel has a B.S. in Bible and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Cairn University. In addition to writing and speaking, Rachel is busy with her four school-aged children. She loves reading and crafting and has been known to run a few mud races, too. On a Sunday afternoon you will probably find her at home with her husband playing a board game or two like Carcassonne or Settlers of Catan.

Her devotional writing has been featured in The Quiet Hour, Light from the Word, and The Secret Place. She has also published two short Kindle devotional books. Let's Eat! Giving Thanks with Jesus at Mealtimes and The Finishing Touches: Preparing for Christmas with the Book of Malachi

Here are a couple of possible speaking topics, although she is also open to developing a new talk that will fit the needs of your group.

Choose Wisdom: Finding Freedom in the Book of Proverbs

This is an overview of the book of Proverbs. Too often when women read the book of Proverbs, they get stuck in the massive to-do list of the Proverbs 31 woman. Is that really what Proverbs is all about for Christian women? This topic uncovers how God designed Proverbs to give us freedom in the fear of the Lord.

Pearls & Pigs: God's Wisdom for Dealing with Difficult PeopleGod wants us to serve one another, but serving doesn't mean saying yes to everything that is asked of us. God gives us wisdom in the book of Proverbs to know how to deal with the difficult people in our lives. With pearls and pigs and other practical word pictures, God tell us to serve with discernment and to participate in His plan for the people around us.

Praying with Power and Purpose

Do you ever feel like your prayers are ineffective? Or maybe you know prayer is important, but you don't know how to do it. Discover how to pray with power and purpose as we examine several specific prayers from Old Testament prophets.

Digging Deeper: How to Read the Hard Parts of Scripture (without getting overwhelmed or confused)

Christian women tend to have their favorite go-to Scripture passages they return to again and again. There are also other parts of the Bible, the hard parts, that they avoid completely because they are too scary or too confusing to read.

The truth is that God has given us all Scripture to be used in our lives–even the hard parts! Learn the right mindset to have about the hard parts along with some practical tools that you can use in your personal Bible reading.

(Note: This can be a traditional speaking session or a hands-on workshop style presentation.)

Take it to Heart: Finding Simple Truth in the Complex Book of Revelation

The book of Revelation is not just about cracking the code of the end times. God’s intention in revealing the message of the book to John was that the readers would take the message of the book to heart and would be blessed. Find out what simple truths for today are in the book of Revelation without getting bogged down by every sign and symbol.

The Feast of Firstfruits: Finding Time to Read Your Bible as a Busy Mom

With the kids to care for and the house to run, how can I find time to read the Bible like I should? Find out a simple solution for Bible reading and prayer by looking at the feast of firstfruits in the book of Leviticus. This topic works very well for a MOPS or other moms group.

Loving My Church Life

When a woman first comes to church, everything is new and exciting. After awhile the honeymoon wears off and she is left with boredom or frustration in her church life. She may wonder if she should find somewhere else to go to church or if she would be better off just doing church at home with just her and God. But a woman can rediscover joy and contentment in her church life. Find out the most common difficulties women face at church and what they can do about it.
