Dr. Deirdre Williams is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, expert trainer, consultant, expert educator, adjunct professor and compliance expert. ● She has appeared in the media outlets for her expertise. She is Founder of Through Our Eyes, LLC, a consulting practice, training and education firm and Books by Deirdre, her book company. She has conducted training workshops and conferences. She serves as Adjunct Faculty at Trinity University in Washington, D.C. and Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. Most notably she has collaborated and worked on projects with the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
BACKGROUND: Dr. Williams is an expert educator. She has over 20 years of experience as an administrator and educator in K-12. She has taught graduate school at Trinity University and American University in Washington, She managed the Project SEARCH launch for the District of Columbia Public Schools at the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She was a Global Training and Communications Coordinator.
MEDIA EXPERT/LEGAL EXPERT WITNESS: She has made media appearances on radio and television as an expert. Dr. Williams is also an expert in special education compliance at the federal, state and local levels.
BOOKS and PUBLICATIONS: She owns Books by Deirdre. She is author of, Quit, Khaliah! a children’s book and series of children’s books targeted to help children improve their reading levels and literacy. She also published Stereotypes: More Than Just Words Simple Activities to Spark Meaningful Discussion and Create a Process for Change. She has also written books for youth, young adults, and adults.
AWARDS and PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Dr. Williams received the Memorial Scholarship Award of Appreciation; She is a board member with the Lockhart ISD Education Foundation; a member of The Progressive Club; Served as a judge for Junior 4H projects; Served on the Lockhart ISD Bond Committee; Guest panelist on the African American Leadership Institute; worked with the Southwest ISD Career and Technology Center Student Interview Activity; Served on the board with the Hays Caldwell Council for Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention.
