From Broken to Beautiful

In the seasons of life, our spirit often becomes fragmented and we are in need of spiritual, emotional, physical and mental repair.  Only Jesus can bring healing and wholeness by walking us through the process of gathering up all of the fragments, one by one, and bringing us to a place of healing and wholeness.

Below is an excerpt from the handouts of the talk:

Just as Jesus had treated the sinful woman in John 8 with love and value and called her to righteousness, He was now calling me to the same place.  Though I thought I was living in abundance, He showed me that the foundation of my heart was sinking from the lack.  Lack of self-esteem, lack of receiving love, and many other things.  He offered me love, a sense of value, and His undivided attention.  He said He wanted to bring me into a spacious place where He could bring me healing and wholeness.

As I spent time with God, seeking healing, I began to understand the lack. My spirit had been broken over the years of my life – from childhood to the present day, and pieces of my spirit were given away, broken off or separated. I was fragmented by many things. A crushed spirit, broken heart, transgressions, sin, compromising my faith, worry, anxiety, idols, lies, manipulation, deception, self-centeredness, rebelliousness. Fragments can be physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

I realized the part I had played in allowing my life to become fragmented, robbing me of the abundant life when I read from Scripture, “Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. He did not need man’s testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.” I had entrusted my personhood, my growth and development, my destiny and my life, into the hands of those who could not develop me into the person that God created me to be. These people were only looking out for their own needs; no one had my best interest at heart. And why would they? They had their own destiny to figure out. It was as though a trumpet had sounded saying, “Arise, shine, for your light has come.”I had fallen asleep, not taking the reins of my own life. There was much work to be done; much time had been wasted.

God created us for relationship with Him. In developing that relationship, we grow to understand who He is; then, and only then, can we understand who we are created to be. Scripture says that we are created in God’s image. To understand ourselves, we need to understand Him. God designed us, developed us, and gave us special gifts, skills and abilities. He created our bodies, our minds – everything about us.
