God hates divorce, but God loves humans more than the institution of marriage. Homes that are broken by abuse are healed through separation and divorce. In her work with women of faith who have navigate divorce, Stacey has heard that church leaders often encourage women to stay in destructive marriages. She has coached many women who have left their abusers and suffered the collateral damage of losing church communities and dear friends. The grief and loss that women feel is further compounded by a deepened faith experience that is beautiful and bittersweet, and also jarring and isolating.
