The books of 1st John were written as a love letter to the Ephesians, wherein John expresses his love for this church and addresses the false teachings of the Gnostics which were causing great confusion for the believers in Ephesus. John lovingly explains Christ's divine and human nature, his propitiation for our sins, and his advocacy for the believer.
