Depending on God amid the noise, confusion, and troubles around you lands on a solid ground in Him and there is nothing in this world that can defeat you or take away your peace. To affirm God’s goodness amidst difficult times is as much an act of worship as it is a sign of integrity.
Those who have trusted in Christ Jesus for salvation were never meant to live defeated, despairing, boxed-in, unhappy lives. In Romans 5:17, Paul writes that the “abundance of grace” we have received and receive every day, along with the gift of righteousness, enables us to “reign in life” through Jesus. To reign means nothing less than to rule as royalty. The apostle is speaking not only about the future day when the faithful will “rule and reign with Christ” in glorified, resurrected bodies, but right here, right now. As princes and princesses in the kingdom of heaven, we are to reign during any and all circumstances.
I was very unhappy for a long time because of the abuses I went through from my stepmoms when I was young. But through receiving Jesus as my Savior, I finally-after many years of misery before and after becoming a Christian began seeking God for answers to my problems. As I write this devotional, it has been more than thirty years since I asked God to heal me and show me how to live in His Presence daily. I pray that through this devotional book I will be able to share some things that will help you in your own journey of healing and living in His Presence daily. At the end of every devotional reading, I have provided short questions to consider and reflect on and also scripture reading and prayer. I hope you will take these reflections, scriptures, and prayers seriously because there is something powerful that happens to your life and your healing journey when you make commitments like the ones in this book and speak them out loud.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to draw me closer to You. I want to be and do all that You want for me. Let me know who I am in Christ and understand the hope of which You have called me, and how rich is Your glorious inheritance in the saints. I have a great deal to learn and I ask that You teach me and help me to face the truth in every area in which my thinking is wrong. I commit my life entirely to you and choose to open up my heart to You in every area of my life. Help me, counsel me, and strengthen me through the power of the Holy Spirit, equip and empower me to have a Spirit-filled life. Amen!
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Romans 5:17
