More About Kala Holton

I didn't grow up in church. My faith began when I was taken into the foster care system. My first set of foster parents were Christians and they made sure the short time that I was with them that I too, would have my name in the Lamb's Book of Life. I wasn't a perfect teenager and life wasn't easy during the remainder time as a foster child. Learning to release the shame and guilt of no one loving you enough to keep you is hard but a false reality. Because God loves us even when we aren't so perfect. God loves us and shame is his burden to carry not ours. We just have to turn it over to Him. It's hard to let go of that shame that keeps us quiet, the shame that stops us from sharing our testimony. But let me tell you what God can do it for us if we leave our shame at the alter.

I have always been a shy and quiet person. I prefer only a few close friends instead of large groups. So if you had told me ten years ago I would be the center of attention and that God would use my experiences to reach other women through speaking events and writing I would have laughed at you. There was no way that God would choose to use me, a nobody, from a small town to reach others for Christ. That job is for the people from bigger towns, with followers and not from someone who set up an Instagram account and never uses it.  Here I am though, speaking to women from all walks of life, leading many to Christ through personal experiences and the Word of God.I have founded the nonprofit For aging out teens called Trisha's House Ministries. We have successfully housed two former foster children into their own homes and have assisted them with finding jobs in our local area. We offer a variety of services and know about resources that are available. Visit us at trishashouse.com

Reality is though that God can use everybody from anywhere because we all have a calling that he equips us for we just have to surrender to Him and allow him to work through us.

Jesus Christ is my foundation, my solid rock.  I am a memeber of Antioch Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia. (Nope you aren't going to find that town on the map.) I have taught Sunday School, Sunday Discipliship Classes, Wednesday Night classes, organized Christmas musicals for the children, Women's Conference events, to mission trips at the Georgia Baptist Children's Home. My goal is to lead others to Christ through my writing or speaking about real life topics and events. Life happens, But with God Life Happens and He carries you.

I would love for the opportunity to speak at your ladies group or event and share the message of hope and overcoming. My topics are relatable to  many different members of your event no matter where they are in their walk with Christ. From single parenthood, to blended families, to lossing a father to suicide. Walk through the Bible with me to learn how faithful God always is even during the times we don't see Him. He is still there carrying us.

I am the author of "Broken and Alone" and the second book of the foster care series will release December 2019 "Don't Forget Me." And the stand alone book about suicide April 2020.

Certified For suicide preventation by QPR training.
