More About Val Jones

Val Jones was born the youngest of 7 children.  She started figure skating at the age of 5.  At age 11, she and her Mom moved from there home in Sacramento to the Bay Area so she could train with Brian Boitano and his coach.  Her Olympic dream was in sight.  While away from home, her Dad suffered a major heart attacked and passed away.  It almost deterred her from returning to the ice.  But she returned in honor and in memory of her father.  But at the age of 18, her career abruptly ended due to a knee injury.  Not sure what to do next, she attended college and in 1992 graduated from Kansas State University.  She met her husband at school and they were married in 1994.  They had their daughter in 1999 and a son in 2002.  Val returned to her athletic self in 2007 when she discovered CrossFit.  But soon, damage from skating started to rear its ugly head.  In 5 years, Val had 5 consecutive surgeries.  Right rotator cuff, L5/S1 back fusion, left rotator cuff, full right hip replacement and sinus surgery.  Upon the final surgery, she contracted a deadly side effect known as MRSA.  Through all of this, Val kept her faith and knew that God would be there every step of the way.  She knows a thing or two about heartache, pain and disappointment.  She now shares her story in hopes to help others achieve the best version of themselves.  And she does this all to the Glory of God.
