More About Meschelle Kolb

Have you ever reached a crisis point of life… where you realize that you have drifted to a place that you never intended to go and now don’t even know where you are headed? That was me 5 years ago. I vividly remember the day, it was the fifteenth anniversary of my twenty-fifth birthday (just so you know, I will never admit to be older than 25), when I became aware of the fact that I had no personal identity.

Somehow, during the course of twenty years of marriage and raising 3 children, I had completely lost myself in my family. On the surface that sounds like a noble thing, but in reality, I had no identity that did not involve someone else; I was Bret’s wife, Derek’s mom, Brittany’s mom and Hunter’s mom. I had no role that just involved “Meschelle.” At that point, I had no personal goals, dreams or ambitions.

As I became brave enough to talk about this to my friends, I realized that many of them were experiencing a similar crisis. Even though all of our stories were different, many of us were at a point of life that we never intended to go and we didn’t know how to change direction. Have you ever felt that way? Do you feel like your life is out of balance in some way?

My journey has now included 25 years of marriage, starting the "empty nest" process, entering the emotional world as a military mom, fighting my own physical and emotional battle with cancer, not to mention the fact that we have moved 13 times - that's once every 1.9 years!  Through it all, I am learning that keeping God as the center of my life and trusting Him to help me make intentional choices is the key to living a balanced life.  I would love to share what God is teaching me and help you on your journey also!
