More About Cookie White

Judith "Cookie" White was born and raised in rural Lynchburg, Virginia.  She was nicknamed "Cookie" by her paternal grandfather upon birth and has maintained that name throughout her life.  Cookie joined the church and was baptized at the tender age of seven while attending Flat Creek Baptist Church, but realized as a young adult the prompting for joining the church was the lure of participating in communion.  While taking classes on how to witness and bring others to Christ, at the age of 21, Cookie accepted Christ and walked through the waters of Believer's baptism!

Cookie met her husband, Gary, in 1979 and they were married a year later in 1980.  Gary worked for the Department of Energy's Navy Nuclear Program in a field office in Lynchburg when they met on a blind date.  After their marriage, they were transferred to Idaho Falls, ID and two years later found themselves in the home office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they remain today.  Of course, Cookie always thought she'd return to her beloved South, but God had much bigger plans.

While raising a family, Cookie was able to complete her lifetime goal of receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  This degree allowed Cookie to teach various subjects, but she realized her love for teaching the Bible was her heartbeat.  Cookie has been involved as a facilitator in numerous Bible studies, been a keynote speaker at women's retreats and currently runs an online women's ministry through her website, The Sounding Board Ministry.  Her passion for writing devotional material has earned her the honor of publication in The Secret Place, Penned from the Heart, Faith Pittsburgh South and Rise, a devotional for college students.

Additionally, during the past 40 years of marriage, Gary and Cookie have raised two wonderful children, have two beautiful granddaughters, and upon Gary's retirement, he came on board extending his financial business savvy helping Cookie fulfill her passion for writing devotionals, penning curriculum and speaking as God sends the opportunities.

Cookie received her certification in 2013 as a Women's Life Coach in order to be better prepared to assist women today with issues that arise in their lives spiritually, mentally and emotionally.

Cookie has authored four spiritually themed books, And I Heard God Whisper, "Walk with Me", Being Led Beside Still Waters., "Why Jesus? Why Now?" The Relevance of Christianity in the Twenty-First Century and the newly released, And I Heard God Whisper, "I'm Still Here".   Each book is a compilation of daily devotionals for personal Bible study; however, the emphasis of the writing "Why Jesus? Why Now?" is to assist in answering questions about a believer's faith in the Lord Jesus.

Cookie's online women's ministry website; www.thesoundingboardministry.com was founded in 2009.

We were blessed to have Cookie White as a speaker for our Ladies Weekend in October 2018. When the time came to look for a speaker for our Ladies Banqet in May 2019 i was approached by different women from our church to ask Cookie if she would be able to speak. Gratefully, she could and we were once again blessed by her. Our Church Moderator told me after hearing Cookie speak that he was so glad that i could find a Christian speaker of her caliber. Her message was thought-provoking, challenging, and an encouragement. Many women that heard Cookie speak at the banquet commented that she was the best speaker we have had. I, personally, appreciated her use of scripture and how she reached all ages of women.

1- I really appreciated Cookie's use of scripture in every example. 2- She engaged the people in the room - people were listening to every word because her examples applied to them. 3- the powerpoint was helpful with both scripture and pictures 4- people took away examples of how they can use prayer in their life and how to make a prayer space. 5- Both Cookie and Diana Roth were a great team; they complimented each other and supported each others topics. 6- creating a prayer space is a great idea for people of all ages.

I have known Cookie for approximately ten years. I have been blessed to participate in her Bible studies, and in her Sounding Board Ministry . Cookie is and engaging and compelling speaker she has a way of making you feel like she is speaking directly to you. You can see her love of Jesus, people and Bible teachings shine through her. Cookies books are informative and insightful as she guides you to a better understanding of yourself, the world around you and the role that Jesus has in every aspect of our lives. I am always more informed, challenged and blessed when I have had the opportunity to attend one of Cookie's events. I pray that would be your experience also.

And I Heard God Whisper, "Walk with Me"

“Whether I’m in the dentist chair, walking on our local trail, exercising in body sculpting class or walking through the waters of breast cancer, the Holy Spirit transforms my daily activities into spiritual learning events. Tucked within these pages are devotionals written from firsthand experiences, as common as apple pie, to demonstrate God does speak, we only need to listen.” These were the words written on the back cover of my first devotional book.  The title, written above, was given to me in 2003 when I was walking through the waters of breast cancer.  The...
