The author of Lessons Learned: A Woman's Devotional for Living a Peaceful & Joyous Life, Demetria Gilkey is a graduate of Campbellsville University, where she received her Master of Theology, in Biblical Studies. She's an inspirational Christian speaker, a certified life coach, and a believer in Jesus Christ. She grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and accepted Christ into her life on June 6, 1996, during vacation bible school at her church home, State Street Baptist. After that moment, she got busy serving the Lord in the church, ushering, singing in the choir, teaching and acting as the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School.

She believes that God has a plan and purpose for everyone in this world and that he wants everyone to flourish in their life and career. Demetria loves to activate her spiritual gift of encouragement, while sharing her unique life experiences about confidence, attitude, faith, and forgiveness so that she can help others who are overcoming obstacles and move forward in their lives. She brings humor, high-energy, her contagious smile, and her truth to every audience that she encounters. She is married to her college love, Aaron, and they are based in Louisville, Kentucky. She also is a new mother to baby Bellamy, who was born in November 2021! She is currently a member of Elim Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoys weekend getaways with her husband that allows her time to explore new cities, culture, and most importantly, food! Demetria loves to laugh and meet new people.
