I've been a marriage and family counselor since 1992.  That same year I started traveling across the US as a speaker for retreats, conferences and special events, as well as, being in private practice.  Along with these, today, I am a chaplain for a police dept and write a devotion column for a newspaper.   Hopefully, I will have a devotion book completed within this year.

In 1992, my husband and I opened Confidential Christian Counseling.  From the beginning, we chose not to charge or accept any kind of reimbursement in return for counseling.  Now, after 25 years of being in private practice and though my husband is no longer living, all counseling continues to be cost free for all clients.

In 2008, we lost our home and all it's contents in a flood that hit my home town and in 2013, I lost my husband of 36 years.  Through it all, I continue to see the goodness of God throughout my life!

Though I pay my own business expenses, I'm thankful for the businesses that have paid my overhead expenses from the beginning. God knew, otherwise, I would not have had the thousands of dollars I would have needed to do His work.  

A few words about my speaking fee.  100% of the money I receive from speaking goes to one of the host's local ministries.  I ask the host churches or Christian organizations to select a ministry within it's church and one ministry within it's local community like a food bank, etc. and I pick a ministry in it's area once called Crisis Pregnancy Center, now known as, Clarity.  At the end of each speaking engagement and in front of all attendees, I pick the name of one of these from a bowl and ask that a check be sent directly to this ministry as a donation from the church, not from me.

Each day, I'm reminded that Matthew 20:28 tells us that Jesus came to serve not to be served and I have chosen to do the same.
