Exchanging hurt for hope is Sheryl Giesbrecht’s focus—a message she shares with audiences as a radio personality, author and speaker. A dynamic teacher and motivating leader, Giesbrecht has endured many changes and challenges, moving her to a deep faith, trust and dependence on God.
Sheryl has authored five books and served as Focus on the Family's columnist for Pastor's Wives for four years. Hundreds of her columns, magazine and devotional articles have appeared in Focus on The Family Magazine, Just Between Us, Discipleship Journal, CCM, Walk Thru the Bible’s - InDeed and Tapestry, Charisma, Live-Living and Arise Daily publications.
Sheryl has written five books including Unraveling the Lie-Knot: Finding Freedom from the Tangles of Discouragement, Deception, and Depression (Freedom In Christ Publishing, May 2021) Get Back Up:Trusting God When Life Knocks You Down (Wheatmark, 2010), Experiencing God Through His Names: 31 Day Devotional (Bold Vision, 2017) , It'll Be Okay: Finding God When Doubt Hides the Truth (Redemption Press, 2018). Sheryl’s theological contributions have been honored by the distinguished Women In Apologetics Forum at her alma mater Biola University.
Giesbrecht’s radio and television show, “Transformed Through Truth” is nationally and internationally syndicated, viewed and heard on networks across the United States, internationally on seven continents.and can be viewed on www.HSBN.tv.
Sheryl has a heart for missions and is avid about reaching out to the poor and needy, locally through the Rescue Mission and worldwide through various ministry partners. Giesbrecht is a Lead Like Jesus Facilitator and missionary with Freedom In Christ Ministries (www.FICM.org) and has been personally involved with equipping hundreds and facilitating the training of thousands of leaders internationally.
The joys of Giesbrecht’s life are her children and fourteen grandchildren. She is excited about the new beginning she shares with her marriage to Dr. Jim Turner. Sheryl holds a Bachelor of Arts from Biola University, a Master’s in Ministry and a Doctorate of Theology. Sheryl enjoys eating peppermint hot fudge sundaes and running 5K races with her 89 year old mother.

Sheryl is a powerful speaker of God's truths. She is a gifted teacher and communicator. She openly shares her own spiritual journey in order to encourage others about God's goodness and faithfulness. Sheryl generously gave of herself to come to our Church and introduce the Church Pastors, Elders and Staff to Freedom In Christ Ministry. She is an authentic and transparent speaker and captured our church leaders hearts. I have also participated in book studies with Sheryl. She creates such a safe, learning environment where participants could share and grow.

When Sheryl presented her Unstuck seminar at Emmanuel Faith, those who attended were deeply moved. Being inspired by Sheryl, many entered Bible studies and Freedom In Christ classes in an effort to get "unstuck". Sheryl's transparency and honest sharing was refreshing . She does not teach from an intellectual position, but from a position of the heart with much intellectually challenging content. Thank you Sheryl for helping people see their need to surrender their lives to God so they can be set free.

All of us are products of our upbringing and experiences, and, whether we realize it or not, have come to believe things that aren’t actually true. Those false beliefs hold us back. They are like recordings that constantly play in our minds, condemning us, accusing us, shaming us, and blaming us. Is it possible to silence these thoughts in our heads that have tied us in knots for so long? Can we ever find peace? Friend, author, speaker, Sheryl, gets to the heart of women by teaching them how to unravel feelings, brought about by the lies they have believed, and how to replace wrong thinking with the truth from God’s Word!

I’ve worked with Sheryl for about 15 years through Christian Ministries Training Association (CMTA). She is a joy to do ministry with. She is an engaging speaker ~ her workshops are among the most popular with consistently high attendance. Sheryl has creative ideas, genuinely cares for people, is an encourager and positive influencer – and she’s fun! Because of her lifetime of experiences and education she can speak on many topics well. She’s a veteran speaker who stays fresh and flexible, continually in the Word and continually learning "what's up" in the world. For as much as she has gone through in life, she should be bitter but instead, she's become a better person and a trophy of God’s grace.
