THE OPINION OF OTHERS

THE OPINION OF OTHERS: “Teacher, we know that you are an honest man and that you teach the truth about God’s way. You are not afraid of what other people think about you, because you do not pay attention to who they are” (Matt 22:16).

We read the scriptures and see Jesus Christ so secured in himself that not even the devil was able to sway him into believing that He was anyone other than Himself.

If you are unsure of yourself, obviously others will be also. When you allow the Holy Spirit to reconstruct your mind to understand that your past is not your future, it eradicates emotional suppression. When you truly know who you have become, it allows you to ascend above your past distresses and your afflictions.

Throughout our lives, we learn to encourage ourselves as David of the Bible often did. If you are safely seated with Christ then your mind is unabridged about you and no one can tell you anything that is contrary to cause you to suffer poor self-esteem. You know who you are. The problem you have is that you spend too much time thinking how others feel towards you.

When your inner perfection is fixed on your identity and uniqueness, the opinion of others ceases to operate. The idea that others may see you differently than you really are, illustrates that those around you have invested minimal time figuring out your inner feelings. You are not a part of a meshed fabric with others but instead you are an original pattern. God knows those whom He intends to raise and will strip those whom He plans to clothe.

If after all the hell you have lived through, if you are in a place where you are being as opinionated as the rest then you have learned absolutely nothing. There is great value when we invest in others. God has the true investment in all of us when He sent His Son Jesus to reclaim us, which came through redemption.

Oftentimes conversations are designed to entertain a moment, but have no capacity to edify anyone.

There are times that you might have made a huge accomplishment, only to have it be redefined by what others may think. They have completely overlooked the intention and in the heart of the person who completed the task. This breed of people have misinterpreted others because they too are falling short at paying attention to their own identity. Their concentration is upon others and they likely spend little time inspecting and assessing themselves. Words have the power to break you down but they also have the power to lift you up.

A holistic personal conviction about your personality and your operative distinctiveness frees you from the opinion of others and the perception that they have of you. It frees you from the need to impress them, and it frees you from the need to be validated. Ponder on this: How much time have you wasted on people who contribute very little to you, especially in your growth and your insight?

If you have ever been misunderstood, so be it! If your passions have erroneously been misread, so be it! If your confidence is spoken of as being controlling when your intentions are to be honest. If your perseverance was spoken of as being demanding, when you meant determined, or if your assertiveness is spoken of as being too strong when your intention was defending, then to all of it, so be it.

Know that everyone usually speaks of someone else and that at times you will be the topic of discussion. No one is a perfect being, although many stride as though they are.

Lift up your head to the heavens and know Christ is looking down and sees all you have endured and all you are determined to achieve. God through His son Jesus can be touched by how we feel. How wonderful are the mercies of God, they “are new every morning” (Lam 3:22-23).
