Personal Testimony

Judy Lamborn was born in Los Angeles, California in 1966.  She was adopted at 4 months old into what appeared on the outside to be the perfect family.  While every material need was met, Judy’s childhood was filled with fear, the result of a physically and emotionally abusive environment.  Church was a mandate on Sundays, but it was all a façade.  However, it was during this time as a little girl that Judy fell in love with Jesus. This would prove to be the anchor that would hold her through the wildest storms she was about to encounter.

Exposed to pornography at 12 years old and coupled with incidents of incest, this formed Judy’s ideals of relationships; however she had no outlet for her fantasies because of her parent’s stifling overprotection.  Driven by a desire for more excitement, Judy moved to San Diego where she became a topless dancer known as “Pepper”.  She was introduced to crystal methamphetamine which she became addicted to the first time she tried it.

Quickly bored with San Diego and fired from her job at the bar, Pepper decided to go to Las Vegas to see what it had to offer.  She ended up as a prostitute in a brothel, pregnant and facing an abortion. This lifestyle eventually lost it’s luster and Pepper longed for a clean, simple existence again.  She wanted to go back to church; she missed Jesus. Taking her life into her own hands, she decided to leave Las Vegas to marry one of her clients.  She didn’t realize it at the time, but God instantly delivered her from her drug addiction that day.  Pepper was dying; Judy was coming back to life.

Finally free from drugs, alcohol and prostitution, Judy began her new life which included Jesus at the helm.  In 1998, Judy and her family moved to St. Louis, MO where she and her husband began working for Joyce Meyer Ministries.  In 2000, Judy began writing From Vegas to Victory which was published in 2009.

Judy is currently the Chief Operations Officer at Open Gate International, a non profit organization dedicated to helping vulnerable populations all over the world by providing vocational training and job placement. Judy resides in St. Louis with her husband, Rick. Together they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
