Growing in the Garden of God's Grace

This lesson taken from the scripture found in Mark 4 brought the story of the farmer who went out to sow seeds home to where we live and find ourselves planted.  Scripture highlights four seeds (the Word of God) sown by the farmer (the Lord) and the reaction of the soil (our hearts) to reject or accept the seeds.  Often I have used this same approach when teaching that the four different reactions to the seed were the different heart conditions of people.  However, I have come to the realization that those various paths can be our lives as we experience the ups and downs of being a flawed human being saved by God's grace.

We would all enjoy being the seed that has found good soil and continues to live and grow there forever until God calls us home.  However, that isn't the case.  We have trials and tribulations that cause us to feel strangled and burdened and often swept away by thoughts and actions we regret.

This lesson is one of my favorites because God is ever present to send down His Son to help us grow and water us with the Living Water than never runs dry.
