My oncologist told me I had breast cancer! I was a single parent with two children, who would take care of them if I died? I had no health insurance, what hospital would accept me? I would probably die from cancer as my Dad did! How could I clean houses for a living if I was sick with cancer! Those were the screaming thoughts going through my mind as the doctor was speaking. All of a sudden four words came into my mind, "Praise Him and Thank Him!" I couldn't tell you what the scripture was or even remember the whole scripture. I found myself saying just those four words over and over. By the time I arrived home to tell my children their Mom had cancer, I had His peace and woke up the next morning with an amazing joy which lasted throughout my year with cancer!
Since that day I tell everyone about Philippians 4:4-9. God doesn't lie and if He tells you He will give you a peace beyond all understanding if you thank Him for His answer to your prayers even before you see the outcome, He will! As a speaker I am able to have all participants write on a piece of paper the ones they haven't forgiven or worries that plague them. I then have them pray with thanksgiving and bring their requests up to the Cross and leave them there. (I bring a Cross with me if the church does not have one that is portable). They then leave victorious!
I have two pages in the back of my book "Divine Appointments" with lines to write down those worries and to add "I praise and thank You!". This releases the stronghold the enemy has on us!
