En Pointe: The Disciplines of the Beautiful Believer

I heard some pastor say about the Christian way of life, "It's a choice of direction not the life of perfection."  And isn't that the truth?!  How we struggle with life - especially those of us who long to be good servants for the Lord Jesus.

That thought marinating in my heart led me to consider the life of a prima donna ballerina. Oh, the dedication. I knew nothing about ballerinas.  The closest thing I came to them was receiving a cheap jewelry box that had a plastic dancer spinning around on the top platform that I received for Christmas when I was about 5 or 6 years old.  But I knew this - when I saw that little beauty spin around to Fur Elise I was spell bound and wondered what in the world gave her the power to dance like that.  Prima Donna's don't become prima donnas without a lifetime of committed direction.  As I studied the successful ones I learned these artists all had one thing in common - their success didn't happen without a commitment to the extent of their sacrifice.  Every day has to be the most important.  When these stars loose their footing they always go back to the fundamentals of their craft.  And so it is with believers.  When adversity  comes we'd better be good at the fundamentals because it's what we do with those fundamentals in the time of greatest stress that makes for the greatest effect  When you get knocked down you get yourself back in the correct position and resume your execution of the fundamentals.

For godly instructions we look to the epistle of 1 Peter. How kind that he gives us a step by step in chapter 5.

What a beautiful two session study this is filled with images of elegance - for that is what we are in Christ - elegant.
