Communicating for Understanding and Influence

Our commission is to share the Good News. Sharing in a way that is heard, understood, and incorporated into another life means we have to speak in a way that others feel safe, heard, and understood FIRST!

Speaking for the benefit of others and the glory of God is not our natural bent, but it can be learned.

This program will change the way you speak and the way you are spoken too.

Effective communication is about more than words! It’s about how others perceive your words and how your words make them feel. During this program you will discover:

  • Why you are not being heard.
  • How to become an intentional communicator.
  • The powerful questions that build understanding and better relationships.

Based on Luke 12:12
For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour and moment what you ought to say.

Do you ever feel like you’re speaking a foreign language? Are you curious how you can feel so different from how they are perceiving you? Despite your best efforts to communicate, is it clear you’re not being heard or understood?

During Mary’s 20-year career in Sales and Management, she started by telling people what to do. Her sales numbers showed success, but behind her back, her team called her, ‘The Queen of Mean’!

As she came to understand that adding anger, animation or an argumentative tone were the culprits, she discovered in the gospels that Jesus used questions to communicate. He asked 307 questions. He was asked 150 questions, but He only answered three.

Science now supports the notion that asking a question is one of the best ways to make someone feel seen, heard, and loved.
